Jack Be Nimble

Jack Be Nimble

(blank card) be nimble
(blank card) be quick
(blank card) (blank card) (blank card)
the candlestick.

Color code the parts of speech on the rhyme, yellow for noun, green for verb, and red for preposition.  The children are asked to look for their names for the yellow blank.  The name is printed on yellow paper.  Then they are to choose a picture paired with the printed word which represents a verb, for the green blank.  The verb picture and word is printed on green paper.  Then they choose another picture/printed word representing a preposition, for the red blank.  The preposition picture/word is printed on red paper.  As a group, read the new rhyme then act out the verb and preposition.

Here's an example of the new rhyme...

Luke be nimble
Luke be quick
Luke dance around
the candlestick.
